I have a laptop sat on my desk which basically acts as a backup. I don't really interact with it except to dump files on it via the network. However it's been bugging me recently as the fan has started to make a screeching noise. After putting it off for too long I finally bought a new fan for it off eBay for £10. Yesterday I found a great video on YouTube showing how to dis-assemble the laptop and fit the fan. So I went through the process, stripped it all down, fitted the fan and re-assembled it. Booted it up and it was silent again. Brilliant I thought, until I realised the mouse pad no longer worked! Crap. So I though I must have left a cable out, so I thought 'here we go again'. I stripped it all down for a second time and found the mouse cable was perhaps slightly lose so I re-fitted it and then re-assemble the second time. Great until I found the keyboard and the mouse not working. F88K!. So for the third time I stripped it down, now loosing patience rapidly. This time I was super careful, making sure everything was as it should be and secure and re-assembled it carefully. So for the last time I rebooted it and the keyboard now works again but the mouse just refuses all attempts. Sod it I thought, I don't really need the mouse and I can always plug in a USB one if needed. I do have another laptop lying about so I might try to resurrect that one instead.
However, I'm happy, it's the start of the MotoGP season this weekend so all is well wit the world again.
